Hi all,

So I'm pretty sure Live Search will not work with the 8900. I just can't get it to budge. So....

what are the best alternatives to Live Search? I primarily use it to look up movie times, search for businesses in the area and get directions. Thanks!

I use Tellme. I am not sure if they have it available for the 8900 yet but you can try. I'll find the link and check it out to see if it does.

No... It does not show Tellme being available for the 8900 yet but I am sure it will be soon. Just keep checking Tellme | Say it. Get It. This is even better than LiveSearch.

Thanks for the replies. Know of any that currently work with 8900 that I can at least look up businesses with, that will also allow me to save that business to my address book? I loved that feature of Live Search.

I have Live Search installed on 2 Rogers 8900 Blackberries and it works great. I had to configure the APN settings to internet.com for it to work.

What happens when you launch Live Search? Any error messages?

No error messages...nothing happens at all when I select the app to open it.

When you launch Live Search for the first time, it will go thru 4/4 installation/configuration steps, do you even get that far?

No, it's like the icon to open is dead. I've done three installs now (uninstall first, then battery pull). Same thing every time. Click the icon, nothing happens at all.

Not saying your lying or anything but Live Search doesn't work with any OS above 4.0.6.185 for the Bold. I'd love to figure out how you have it working because I miss this app.

I have never gotten LS to work with the Javelin on any of the OS's that it has .76, .94, or .114. What version of the Javelin do you have?

I have the .114 version (T-Mobile ships with it), and I did download from wls.live.com through the BB browser. I have permissions set to Allow on everything, so that's not the prob.

Glad to see (well, not really, but you know what I mean) somebody else is having the same issue.

Nope. Same result as you. The link does nothing.

My phone probably isn't a good comparison though. My phone somehow has an IT Policy even though I have never used BES. Can't run slacker, bolt. Can't install vlingo. A mess.

By the ways, I'm on Rogers Wireless, on a BIS plan, running v4.6.1.94 (Platform 4.2.0.69), any Rogers users getting LS to work as well?

Have you tried to useCrackUtil to clear out that IT policy?

Brand new 8900 from T-mobile. Same result: dead icon after download.
