Juttin, where on li? I can give you a list of dept frequencies and the codes they use so you can follow easier. This app is good for entertainment but unless someone has the dept you want online to listen to its hard to know what's going on around you. Sometimes its just easier with a pos scanner from radioshack

Most states/counties have upgraded to digital, those scanners will run you more then $499. Also all the scanner feeds on BBScanner are being streamed by volunteers via their scanner.
BBScanner has come a long ways through a lot of updates, the price is right for this wonderful app. $2.99 vs $499+ its so easy, also its truly handheld, unlike the actual handheld digital scanner.
Unless you really want to get a desktop and handheld digital scanner which will add up to $1000+. Yes, you can get more frequencies and all with the actual scanners.
It truly doesn't hurt to try it for 14 days!

Yes some places have upgraded and a lot have not. And in our area ,long island, there isn't much on this app. My 60$ from radioshack still gets just about everyone out here. The app is great for listening to big cities far away. I use it for that all the time.

That is correct, some counties haven't updated to full digital yet and still use analog. For more feeds for any area you will need to ask around to see if anyone has a spare scanner to hook up to there computer to stream. Volunteering is very helpful and much thnx to all the volunteers.
