Hi folks. Been looking for the linkedin app for my 9900. Can't seem to find in Appworld and on the linkedin site I clicked on Mobile-Linkedin for Blackberry and get device unsupported message. Mind you I was doing this all from my phone. If anyone knows whether the app is out and can provide a link it would be much appreciated.

True... Most apps though are backwards compatible though which got me asking. Bloomberg was quick to update and most other social media apps are running fine (twitter and facebook). Going to try from my desktop when I get home. I'll update the board if I have any success.

I got the version for my storm working but there is problem with the rendering. still usable though .
It's been nearly a year since the LinkedIn BlackBerry app has been updated, and I've pretty much given up hope on ever seeing another update (which is great coming from a "professional" networking site, right? :rolleyes:). You could try their new HTML5 mobile website (touch.linkedin.com), but I'm not sure if it works on BlackBerry 7 devices or not.
There's been much grumbling over the lack of updates beyond the "current" LI app - see LinkedIn for BlackBerry 1.5 is now available. More grumbling: LinkedIn needs to update the 'LinkedIn for BlackBerry App'

Finally, there is an HTML 5 webapp, but visiting on my Bold 9900 redirects to the standard homepage, which is kinda pointless.

It was not supposed to work on the 9780 as well but it does. And it also did on the 9900's simulator (althou the top bar was shorter than the screen itself).
It is sad really, LinkedIn for BlackBerry was one highly anticipated app. We asked for it. And now they seem to ignore us completely.
So, what are we waiting for? Let's post comments and complain why is it they not only didn't update the app but also completely igored the requests for updateson their OWN group.

EDIT: I'm surprised and disgusted. Almost all my posts have vanished, along with whole discussions where we pointed where the app was lacking and suggested changes - while complaning and update was long overdue.
Yes, infuriating that LinkedIn have not developed an app for the new BB operating system.
I contacted LinkedIn feedback today and got a rapid and polite response, including 'we have sent your message to R&D...'.
The 9900 is a premium business device and yet cannot utilise a key business app like LinkedIn. Is this progress?? :mad:

I willl warn you though, while compatable with the 9900 for the most part (the higher resolution screen makes just a few minor things slightly out of place), it still doesn't have the one option which made me uninstall it in the first place: a little checkbox for, "Automatically Sign in." Basically it just starts up and does it's own thing, unless I'm missing something. I know I could take away all the apps permissions, but I really hate to start going down that road...
You're quite right. Once you load the app, it runs continuously in the background. That said, it has no appreciable effect on battery life and if you look at the CPU and memory use, it doesn't seem to be doing anything while it's running in the background so it doesn't slow anything else down.
Funny, most people complain it is a sucker for battery...

I haven't, but feel free. The sad reality is that Blackberry doesn't have the smartphone market share, or forecasted market share, for company "decision makers" to allocate the resources for high-quality app development and support to BB, as a generality, when they are also creating and supporting Apple & Android Apps too.
This is true regardless of if the service provided is a web-based service or not, as is the case for LinkedIn.
Now, while the typical Facebook, Groupon, etc. user may be less likely to have a BB than an alternative smartphone, the fact that 90% of people on LinkedIn have a Blackberry, and their app sucks is just a massive oversight by the company.
Clearly I made up that stat, but it is my opinion that among those who have a smartphone and frequent LinkedIn, BB users would constitute higher than average %.
Oh well...we all know what they say about opinions...
i think Linkedin are not willing to create an APP for 9900.
they want people to check thier linkedin accounts using the phone browser
which is frankly much better than utilizing an app that is irresponsive (never turn off and depletes battery).
It has no sense that they wont make an app for "working" oriented smartphones, when the main target of linkedin is for "working" people!

I think LinkedIn wants 9900 people to use their browser instead of a direct application.
i wonder why a very nice professional network like LinkedIn doesn't bother to create an application for the most professional phone on the face of the earth.

Agree. Plenty of professionals use their blackberry to connect. Kind of weird that Linkedin opted out.
