I had....what I thought to be a great idea. I have done some searching, but I have yet to find anything like it.
Its has the same principle as, say BBOS Alert.
Picture it. Say you have apps (no matter how little or how much) on your berry. All of a sudden you get a notification that Pandora has been updated to 1.15, and then a few days later Bolt has been updated to 1.7. Instead of you looking for updates on Crackberry, or however else you find out about app updates, your Berry does it for you! Just an idea.
