- - So i'd like to know how many apps all you Storm users out there are using ?
- How many apps total do you have installed, and how many do you have running in the background 24/7?
- Also how many apps can you have on your phone before there is a memory leak and your phone becomes slow and laggy?

So that adds up to 25Last edited by black_rain; 09-26-09 at 01:14 PM.
09-26-09 12:56 PMLike 0 - If I go to options>applications and just count them all, I have 28. No time to type them out right now. The only one I usually have running in the background besides the 4 or 5 that are always running is PodTrapper. I try to keep anything else closed. Memory leaking is about which apps you have installed rather than how many. Of coarse if you just keep adding apps, at some point it would become about how many. It's also different for every Storm. One person might say WeatherBug leaks like crazy while others say it causes them no leaks. It's probably related to the sum of all apps that you have and which ones they are. I also believe it's heavily related to the OS your running. Some OS's do a better job of cleaning up the memory, even if you have leaky programs running. On .151 and on .230, my memory never dropped more than 2 or 3 meg. With the exact same apps on .148 and .167, my memory would drop 15 to 20 meg in a day, putting me at or into the teens.09-26-09 01:10 PMLike 0

- Not going to list them, but I have 30, not including the ones that come on the phone (Docs to go, etc.).
I've had ALL of them running at once before and it works, but it's slow as h3ll. I think 20 was about the max before it got unhappy about it...lol!
I didn't have any notable memory leak until about a week ago, so I deleted the app I thought was causing the problem last night. So far it seems to be holding now that it's gone. The app was the Picture Resize app from AppWorld if you want to avoid the trouble. I was losing about 10MB per day. I figured that was the one because it was one of about 5 apps that I downloaded within a 3 day period.09-26-09 02:22 PMLike 0 - I'm running about 25 third party apps at the moment but I find I need to use QuickPull about once every third day to keep my memory in the 10-18 range. Without Aerize Optimizer, it was more like every day. I'm running .148. I'm hoping that when a release version of 5 through Verizon finally comes someday (I suspect when the Storm 2 is released) I'll manage for awhile until I can do my upgrade. The keyboard is absolutely NOT the problem with the Storm, it's the insane decision to create a device capable of running apps that doesn't make the ability to have lots of them 2nd only to phone call quality and stability. The Storm 2's 256mb of device memory will put off the problem a bit longer but it's still horribly short sighted by RIM. Whoever's running that company needs to have his/her head examined. If Apple on a whim opts to make the next iphone available for multiple carriers it will be like a stake through the heart of the Blackberry community precisely because of the app store differences and the way the iphone gobbles up apps as compared to a Blackberry. I don't know why they have an OS that restricts apps in that way but the proper number for device memory STARTS at 512mb the way it works right now. It would still be a problem down the road but far enough down the road to make it a non-issue.09-26-09 05:06 PMLike 0

- Opera Mini 5 Beta, YouTube, Poynt, Windows Live Messenger, Pocket Express, amAze, JabpLite, SugarSync, QuickPull. That's 9. I keep only those apps I use (which basically means I uninstalled every single pre-installed app I didn't need (yes, that includes BBM)). I'm running Bell's .148 and 0 out of those 9 apps run in the background. Ever. Unless I'm using it, there's no way it's going to run.
Edit: Link to 5.0.0.230 appreciated.09-26-09 11:15 PMLike 0 - Most likely in that order from using the applister app . I love that little app at one point befor I upgraded to 5.0 OS I had over a 100 apps on my storm. But since 5.0 I shaved it in half.
