Unfortunately, I think its an OS limitation. Some builds of 4.7 were unable to use the socket connection either. I believe the official builds were able to use it. Its a shame because it would make this fast browser even faster.

My guess is RIM is saving that aspect for themselves. I heard they are working on their browser and its suppose to be super super fast, not sure of any release date on it though.
Their browser right now though needs alot of help, its very sad.
Opera Mini 4.2 is much faster on http than Opera Mini 5 beta on socket imo.
To me it seems as though on .323 OM4.2 is faster on this OS than any previous OS i've tried, however the interface of OM5 is what attracts most users rather than speed of 4.2....
I just wish there was a way to save your bookmarks remotely that way if you wipe your device and you have a ton of bookmarks, there would be a way to retrieve them, if there is a way to do this; please tell me how!
I upgraded to .323 and haven't gotten Opera Mini 5 Beta to even work with my Storm. It looks like it's loading a page, but just stays on the quicklaunch page.
Would love some additional information on this. Bolt's socket mode works on 5.0 so why doesn't opera mini's? OM on socket blows any other browser away. This wasn't really an issue for me before .323, b/c none of the previous 5.0 builds were worth it to stick with over 4.7. However, I have found .323 to be the most responsive build yet, & I would like to stick with it.
I've changed OM's permissions to allow, changed my global permissions to allow, & enabled the firewall, but nothing that I've tried has allowed me to use OM in socket mode.
If anyone has any luck w/ OM's socket mode on OS 5, please let us know.

You have to change the connection to http in the OM5 options.
This is a deal breaker for me on the 5.0 OS. I have been pulling my hair out all morning trying to figure out why my Opera brower was running so slow. I think the only solution to this problem is to downgrade the OS(for 8900 users anyway).
