When you open up the browser, you used to have google as the main search engine which worked great! However, now its "bing". I hate bing and it sucks compared to google.

Anyone know how to change it to google like past blackberrys have?

Download the "google mobile app," and you can perform google searches that way.

well, my tour is OS 5.0.0.699 (hybrid) and it still has the 4 search engines there. not only that, but it used to have Bing there. I think that if i connect it through DM, and do the switch device wizard, it copies the search engines over. If not, then IDK how i still have google and such on my tour..

I had an idea (but it didn't work, but maybe someone can build on it...):

From the home screen: Options->Advanced Options->Service Book looks like it has entries for each of the search engines. My though was (armed with the right information) we could manually insert the google service book, maybe copying it from a phone that still has google. Thoughts?

It's not the OS. To use the browser you must have a service book sent from your carrier. That's why people without BIS can only use the Hotspot browser. Anyway, that service book tells the browser which search engines you can use. MS paid VZW to make it Bing only. There is no way to work around it, period.

I have to say, this is the one thing I am pissed at Verizon for. Transaction was great, got here before noon the next day, everything works, great new phone, yadda yadda yadda... but the google thing really pisses me off. I am a loyal google user, and well, you dont get all the bull**** that Bing gives you. I wish they would change that!
