    When I star a place, I would like to give it a name, but instead, the location name appears by default, is there a way to change that?

    that i know of, it can only be changed using google bookmarks. hit the "edit" button next to the address - the address will appear in the "name" field by default, but you can change this to whatever you like without affecting the resulting location.
