I would freaking pay USD20 just to have visual voicemail and you want to delete it?

You have to install the OS on your PC that is running on your Bold.
Once installed you have to remove the *.cod files from the OS folder (C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9700M_v5.0.0.656_P5.1.0.153\Java) then connect your bb, and check for updates. It will let you know that it needs to be installed and click past that. Your bb will reboot and VVM will be removed... If you do not know what your doing, then I suggest leaving it alone!

Isn't there an easier way to do it? Like make it available to be uncheck on the step before installing new OS?

    @ gameson - No

@ hastafford - B/c I dont see the purpose of having my voicemail heard out loud for anyone to hear... If you can use vv, you can simply hold down the 1 button and listen to your messages like a normal person.

I had to go to the AT&T website to turn mine on. Wouldn't you do the same to turn it off?

Not necessarily.. That turns it off from being charged, but it still will be running in the background eating up memory and battery!!!

    I like being abnormal

Also, my vvm does not automatically play through the speakerphone. What OS version are you using? May be the reason why its doing this.

VVM is free to all AT&T users. You need only have a compatable phone and ask them to activate it or do so on the Internet.

You can also deletge it by editing the Vendor file and changing "true" to "false" in your editor. Then you will get a choice to delete it or not when you plug your phone with DM running.

Greg, how do I do the vendor file edit? It seems to be the easiest. i guess by changing it to false, now I can just uncheck it in DM and it will uninstall itself?

    Please advise.

    Thanks.

If you want it off you can call or go into any store, the SOC Code is BBVV ad its a free feature. By removing the feature, you will lose any voicemails you have saved or have not listened to. Make sur they add the "Basic Voicemail N/C" feature back onto your line or you wont be able to setup regular voicemail, I don't remember the SOC code for that.

Its super easy. Download/install it, plug your phone in, open crackmem, confirm which phone and OS you're using (on the left) first, then select all the checkboxes you want to remove including "vendor.xml" file, the press execute, wait for it to say completed (should be quick), then close the program, unplug your phone, and do a battery pull for 30 seconds. And bam, no more vvm.
