I am evaluating the BB Torch for ZDNet and want to load up the Kindle application. I am able to get to the Kindle download page in the web browser, but then when you select it you get a page that states the browser is not compatible with the download and you cannot get it. My first thought was to go into the browser settings and change to a mobile formatted page, but I cannot find any such setting in the new web browser.

Anyone get this to download and install?

Try going here from your phone:
    http://amazon.com/kindlebb?t=crackbe...bUvbUpU5448850

If that doesn't work, Amazon must not recognize BB's new browser.

Yes, that is what I tried. I guess the new browser is too powerful for Amazon's download at this time. I hope they update the link for the new browser. Even better, it would be nice if the Kindle app was in BB App World.

The Torch isnt listed as a compatible device...Im sure it will be soon, sometimes APP compatibility is a little behind the release date...

Anyone figure this out yet? Both ways I've tried it tells me I'm not allowed to download using the Torch browser.

If you have it send you the email link, it shows that the Torch is support:

Thank you for your interest in the Kindle for BlackBerry App. Click here on your BlackBerry smartphone to download Kindle for BlackBerry for free.

Kindle for BlackBerry is available for direct download on supported BlackBerry models: Torch 9800, Curve 8520 and 8900, Tour 9630, Bold 9000 and 9700, Storm 9530 and 9550.

I spent 30 minutes on the phone with a kindle specialist at Amazon.com customer service and they basically had no clue what was going on - I explained to them what I could so they could send a ticket to a software engineer to look into it...hopefully good news soon...

I need my books on my phone!

Here's another method -- I used the Blackberry Desktop Manager's Switch Devices function, since I already had the Kindle app installed on my Storm. It backed it up from the Storm, then installed it on my new Torch, where it works, no problem. In fact, it works better on the Torch than it did on the Storm; I was having a problem downloading books that has totally been solved by forcing it to use the Torch's wifi connection.

Glad to hear the Kindle app works.
I read the Torch won't do landscape mode if the keyboard is open. That means no space bar page down button for the Kindle app (I'm assuming it does landscape) or browsers.
This is one of my favorite BB features. No swiping, tapping, or obscuring the page. Did I read right and anyone else wish RIM would correct this?

Thanks, had a similar problem trying to get the Kindle app on my BB 9300 (which is actually a 8520 with 3G). This linked worked for me.

I went straight to Amazon's download page with my Torch about 6 weeks ago and had no problems what so ever. Downloaded fine and have been using the app ever since.

Can anyone confirm that you can only use this app in the States. I find it is ridiculous that I can buy a Kindle for Trinidad and Tobago and buy books online through the Kindle in Trinidad, but I can not use the Kindle App here for my blackberry?

    Thanks

I also have the same problem with Kindle for BlackBerry being unavailable for non-US customers. Imagine, I can:
    • Make purchases from Trinidad via Kindle using Wispernet
    • Make purchases via the Kindle Store on Amazon's website and download to either to my registered PC or Kindle device in Trinidad

But yet, as Amazon says, Kindle for BlackBerry is not available for non-US customers. This defies logic!

Has anyone tried to download the Kindle for BlackBerry from amazon's website link and install on BlackBerry Torch and get to read kindle books on the BlackBerry? I would really be glad to hear from anyone on this.

    Thanks.
