i got a 9650 verizon in which the camera has been disabled (no camera app).
i tried to load new software for it but it wont take it (i installed OS6 verizon the deleted vendor.xml then run loader but it wont take it)
im not sure if this is non-camera version but i see the camera and flash on the phone.
is there any way i can add original camera app to this?

    plz help.
    thanks

On the home screen, click the menu button, see attahced

The camera module is called net_rim_bb_camera, and is not a seperate app to remove. You'd have to install the cod, but I'd look to see if it's already there.

on this phone it only shows
    Move
    Move To Folder
    Hide
    Options
    Add Folder
    Switch Application

crackutil shows that "net_rim_bb_camera" is there
    net_rim_bb_camera 5.0.0.732 176KB

If you downloaded the OS, the COD should be in the OS when it's installed.

Try downgrading in Desktop Manager and load an OS and see if the camera app loads.

i just managed to update it to OS6 but still dont see camera app anywhere.
during the updating process, when i come to options i dont see the camera option
is there any way i can check to see of the phone is non-camera version (with the MEID and PIN)?
    thanks

Is the phone yours or company owned? Maybe a BES policy is blocking those apps, since they're installed on your device.

I don't think those apps are optional, they're installed with the core apps like Phone, SMS, calendar...

I don't think the Gov't allows camera phones, that's why you don't have access to the camera. You can thry this, good luck:

    Remove IT Policy - BlackBerryFAQ

I think you have to reload the OS after you remove the IT policy, which is why i said "now".

Well if you've removed all the policies, reloaded the OS and the cods are installed, idk what to tell you. Something is definitely wrong and I'm out of ideas.

If you're still on OS6 have you tried Universal Search? First, make sure Home Page is checked as an Option. Type Camera in the field, hit enter and the camera icon will pop up, even if it's hidden.

Also, if this was a US Gov't issue device the camera might be permanently disabled.

As soon as he said Gov't I knew that was the problem. I'm surprised though, if the policies are removed the cam is still disabled.
