I still prefer using the full non-mobile site when the app isn't sufficient. It's harder to get to though, but once you reach it and bookmark it'll take you to the full site each time. It's more cumbersome to use, but there are times when I strongly prefer the full site.
I like the touch site, but it seems that there is no way to view photos on there! Am I wrong?

Just clicking on the pic always works for me. And once the pic is enlarged there are little arrows at the bottom to move to different pictures.
What I like also about the Touch site is that when you mark it as a favorite in the favorites folder, it shows up as the Facebook icon, as if its an app.

still no chat. Geolocation enabled, friend search enabled
I've been using Meebo on my Torch which enables me to FB chat. The Meebo app had a few minor bugs in it, but as far as being able to chat on FB- it works well. The only bugs i've noticed so far is that it does NOT give an audible alert when a new message is delivered (it does vibrate though), and the spell check doesn't automatically capitalize the first word of a sentence nor does it install a period at the end by double spacing. It doesn't add the apostrophe in contracted words either. The worse part about it is that if you stay logged in, it can suck the life out of your battery in short order.
