I've just got a 9860 and love it but there appears to be a huge lack of applications that were available on my previous 9800. Anyone know if RIM are planning to make more applications available? Cant use any themes or BBC iPlayer etc.
Are there any particular apps you were interested in?
I currently use the following (including games):
3D Rollercoaster
Aces Traffic Pack Classic
Ascendo DataVault
Bank of America
BB Bridge
BB Maps
BrickBreaker
crunchSMS
DocsToGo
Facebook
Fandango
Flashlight App (by Jared Co)
Frutakia
KIK Messanger
MeterBerry
Need For Speed Demo
NFL Mobile
QR Code Scanner (by Jared Co)
QuickLaunch
QuickWeather
Slacker Radio
Teather
Uno
VCast Song ID
Wikitude
Word Mole
YouTube
And there are a handful of others that I didn't mention that already came on the phone. Some of the ones I mentioned above I had to install after getting the phone.
But I agree, app selection is SLIM but I see more and more for my PlayBook!
A lot of apps aren't certified for OS7 but will work fine on a 9850/60. Try pulling the .cod files off your 9800 (use BBSAK or something similar) and add them to your 9860 and see what happens. Worst result will be that they're not rendered properly or throw an error, in which case you can simply remove them again.
I did this with e-office flashlight, kindle, google maps, blackstar gps, weatherbug, and a few others. All worked fine, despite app world saying they weren't for my phone. YMMV, but give it a shot.
