Yes, it works but you may need to set the permissions for GoogleMaps to allow access. It should have popped up when you first ran the app. Go into Options > Advanced Options > Applications. When you can, select but don't click on GoogleMaps and hit the BB key to Edit Permissions. Allow everything and then try it.

I can confirm. It took about 30 seconds to lock on GPS the first time... but it does work.

When I first started it, it said "your location within 1700 meters... waiting on GPS".. after about 30 seconds, it said "your location within 8 meters" When I zoomed the map, it was correctly showing my location.

It has gone down to "within 3 meter" for me too.

i got my tour this morning at 8am and google maps was one of first apps i downloaded. but it appears to be for a touchscreen and i wasn't given any options for a different version. is this possible? how do i get the right (non-touch) version?
(to give one specific example, it no longer has "my location" as one of the menu options but has an icon on the lower right of the screen that supposedly i press to recenter.)

Works fine for me. I initially forgot to set to "Location On" versus "911". But, no problem at all for me.

Go to mobile.google.com on your phone and you can get all of the Google apps, including Google Maps and YouTube.

For the "works fine for me" crowd; how do you refresh your "My Location"

Just press the "O" key (the letter, not zero) to zoom Out, "I" to zoom In, and press "0" (zero) key to go to my location.

I will also confirm GPS works with Google Maps on my new Tour.

Jumped in the car and drove down the interstate -- I got 6-8m accuracy in GMaps, and I also got little 'arrow' indicators showing... direction? inertia?

Clearly, GoogleMaps KNEW I was headed down the highway.

Works great for me. 3 Meters being best outside and 8 being average inside. I did change from 911 only though just FYI for anyone that may not have checked it yet.

I would agree. I wonder if someone could post a download link from an 8900?!?

When I use google maps with my tour it shows the zoom button on the screen. When I go to help to try to figure out how to use it, it says just touch it. Are we sure that this verision of google maps isn't for the storm and just happens to mostly work on the tour?

It is definitely for the Storm... somehow the Tour is being confused for the Storm by Google. You can zoom in and out by hitting the I and O keys.

I had problems trying to download Google Maps when going directly to the website from my Tour. What finally helped was to have a text sent with the link. Once I got the text, I clicked on the last link in the text msg; downloaded finally without a problem and is working great. This was very frustrating with me. If anyone else is having a problem, hope this is helpful.
