    Blackberrycool.com has just posted a load of free apps for blackberrys and one is a free quick sms app
    just install it and press Q and you are in the compose sms bit!
    much much quicker than before and $7.50 less than the quicktext app in the software store!!

    Doesnt work... You have to go to the icon and select it. Just pushing the "Q" button doesnt do anything..

    You have to goto the phone and unselect "Dial from Homescreen". Hit the green phone, hit menu button, goto Options, goto General Options, then make sure it says "No" next to Dail from Homescreen.

    Then this program will work and I love it.

    I have been using qsms for a few months now and I have it set for my lfet convience key. I love this app. Don't know how I lived without it

    Oh that's actually a good idea. A friend of mine wanted to set a convenience key to compose SMS... which isn't an option. But now it is with this!

    why isnt this standard on the phone!????
    you can press C and get to quick compose an email but why not a text!!

    good job its free tho as is a great app to have!

    Love my bold but there are some basic features which are missing which is refuse to pay for, so grab this app now while its free!!

    Well, l love the dial from home screen feature, so i guess ill pass on this app..

    Now....next problem....when I hit the "Q" key, I get the icq program (whatever that is)

    I never use this.....can I just remove it?

    Got it to work....

    T-mo has ICQ installed on it....that is what came up when I hot 'Q'...removed that and Qsms works great.

    This is what I do too. I've been using this app since back on my old 8310 a year ago. Never had a single problem with it

    The "Q" button on the bold is set to switch your profiles to/from vibrate to whatever your last profile was (quiet... normal). This is why Bold users are having a problem I believe. That is an existing shortcut key. Besides, I love my dial from home screen option and wouldn't change it for this since my text icon is also on my 1st line and easy to access.

    The Q button on the 8900 Curve, when held, still changes from the selected profile to vibrate. Pressed Quickly, it now shortcuts to the compose sms.

    All kinds of shortcuts on the keyboard once you shut off the dialing feature.
