No, there is not. You need a data plan, unless the device you have has Wi-Fi...

Services like JOTT or Dial2Do will allow you to update your status on Facebook by voice, however you cant do much else.

Does not matter the Facebook Application only works through BIS and supported BES. you can access m.facebook.com via wi-fi but the "Facebook application" will not work without a BIS/BES package.

You can hope all you want. The app is made by RIM and thus they aren't going to give you an app that will allow you to dodge their data charges.

I requested a SocialScope invite and got it within five minutes, many others have too. One thing I did notice, probably just me, when I requested an invite using Gmail, I had to wait. When I requested an invite using my Yahoo email, I got it right away...

Are you sure you don't have an old version of the Facebook app? 1.6 or older? The old versions did allow you to access it without a BB plan.

Really?? How, I thought all versions needed a bb data plan. How does the updates/notifications work when you are not consently connected? Does it push them once wifi is detected?

You won't get notifications since they are only delivered via email. But the app will allow you to log in (the older versions). You just won't get any push notifications without a BIS plan.

Are you using an older version. Originally the Facebook app version 1 supported WiFi without BIS. When RIM updated it they made BIS required. Maybe you are lucky and are running the original version and haven't udpated it. If you update it the WiFi without BIS will stop working.

Yes, you can use Facebook without a data plan. You cannot use RIM's Facebook app though, you need to use alternative apps.
I use my wi-fi for Facebook, Twitter, search, maps, email, IMs and more.
See my blog post for details and links to download those free apps.
