I found a way to use Facebook Places on a Blackberry running OS6. You have to do it through the touch.facebook.com website, which is really meant for the Torch but works just as well on a Bold 9650.
However, for some reason, Places would only load for me only when connected to Wi-Fi....over 3G alone, it doesn't load at all.
This is with my Bold 9650 running .280..anyone else having this issue or has tried it?
workin for me on 3g and wifi, no probs. Places is kinda like foursquare.
really? Does it constantly work fine for you over 3g?
I like Facebook Places because it integrates better into Facebook, and whenever someone comments on a post of mine on Foursquare, I can't always view the post itself on my BB browser, whereas I can with a Facebook Places post.
I just tried it myself and it works fine. Places loaded up places near where I live. I actually like the look of this version better than the regular mobile version.
Mine works just find on the touch site for facebook, but I really wish that they'd integrate it with the app like they have on Android and iPhone. I don't use it to often, but the fact that our app isn't up to par is rather depressing.
It's saying it cannot detect my location on both 3G and WiFi? Shame that, but I'm Foursquare through and through...Heheh!
Speaking of foursquare, I recently noticed that my "post to Facebook" option disappeared. Since I updated the app and to os6 on the same day, I'm not sure which caused that option to disappear. Do you have that option?

facebook1.9 places sucks..... my gps says im 2 km away from where i actully am and all the places it lists are a fair distance away too. fix? facebook touch seems to work but i dont want to have to go to bookmarks everytime
Got a 8520 and also having the same problem. My GPS is turned ON. It does not give me an option to "Check In". All it shows are My Friends Check Ins. Anyone figured out how to make it work?
