Go to Welcome to Facebook | Facebook, log in, check in, mark your place. And for the heck of it I checked in again. Went into the BB app and went to the "places" tab, and all is well.
I am also using a curve 8330 (on Verizon) and I wonder if anyone using the same phone / service has gotten FB Places to work? I know - I'll start a thread!
says Acquiring your location on the Storm 2 then says location is temporarily not available. GPS is on Anyone else with the Storm 2 able to use Facebook places?
I am on a Storm1 and tried what you suggested but it didn't work for me either.
I figured it out... I had to go into Options / Advanced / GPS / and change GPS Services to Location On. I initially had it set to E911 only so it could not find my location.

For those who are still unable to use FB places feature, I found this solution.
Go to Options -> Advanced options-> GPS -> and there you should have some device as the GPS Data source. This could be a bluetooth device which you would have paired earlier from your Blackberry.
If you don't have any device selected in that list , Places will not work on 8520. I tried that removing all bluetooth devices.
There is no need to keep Bluetooth ON just we need to give a device in source.
That device need not to be a GPS compatible device.
And as shared earlier you need to install the latest version of FB app and logout from FB app and then do a device pull and log back in to use the FB places.
Also FB places should be enabled in your FB privacy settings.

I don't know how but this worked for me on my 9630 with VZW. After I checked in through the touch site, I rebooted my device, then I was able to check in and use places.
Also, I don't know if this had any affect on it working but before I rebooted, I went to my Facebook permissions on my blackberry and set all to Allow. I did notice that under Connections "Location Data" was set to "Prompt" before I changed it. Also, verify that your privacy settings in Facebook are set to allow places.
