i followed the steps carefully but when i load up DM from CM it shows my pin as none i followed the steps for that but still nothing happens
Connect your phone to your PC and then run DM. It should connect. If it does not then something is wrong. CrackMem merely launches DM. It does not touch any of the program's functions.

You used the App Loader technique that Pete describes in the help file for CrackMem and nothing happened? If that won't work, you're into the recovery of a nuked blackberry procedure. That's drastic, so be sure you've exhausted the lesser options first.

To be semantically correct, you are right but if I did that, most people would never find the program. I messed up when I named the thread. I was happy to release V2.x that I never thought that I might just get to the next major digit.

Nonetheless I shall leave it as is, I think.

OK, well remember CM only sets up the files for DM and App Loader by moving the unwanted ones out of view. This means you should be able to setup the install using CM, then launch DM manually and it should still see the modified file set. IOW the failure of the launcher button in CrackMem is an inconvenience, but it doesn't prevent you working around the problem.

If you want to check you should be able to see the files as you setup with CM - just open 2 instances of Windows Explorer, and point them at:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\RemovedFiles\<your-target-OS-version>
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\<your-target-OS-version>\Java

You should see the files move between the folders as you play with the "Put it Back" and "Execute" pushbuttons in CM.

I need some help. I want to use CM to delete stuff like Facebook and the MyFaves icons from my phone. I installed CM and it comes up fine no problems. I just upgraded my OS to 4.5.0.81.

For CM to work do I need to wipe my device, delete the stuff I want gone, then install the software again??

I'm so confused on how this works. I've read the beginning posts on CM and I'm still not sure how to go about doing it.

    Can someone please help me?
    Thanks everyone!

CrackMem was not really designed to do this but it seems to do so.

What you must do is to download the OS that is currently installed on your phone and then use CrackMem to remove the offending modules from the OS. Now conect your phone and run Desktop Manager. Select the Applocations Loader and then Add / Remove Pograms and then Next a few times and DM will remove the unwanted modules.

The key to all this is that you MUST HAVE the exact same version of the OS that is installed on the phone to be installed on your PC.

Thanks for all the help in this post guys.... My question is, do I have to reload the new OS I just loaded to use this CM app ? If so, I'll wait to give it a go next time I upgrade. Too much work to upgrade it right now.

If the OS is already loaded on the phone and on your PC, Desktop MAnager will have copied/installed all the files from the PC install base to the phone. If you change nothing then the next time you connect to DM, it will do a quick compare to make sure tha all the files it sees on your PC are on the phone.

If you use CrackMem to remove one or more files from the PC install then DM will remove ot/those from the phone upon connection/Application Loader use.

If you put any valid files back into the PC OS install then DM will copy/install those on the phone.

DM does a full compare each time and simply matches/syncronizes all the files on the PC with thse on the phone taking th PC files as being the reference for copy/install/remove on the phone.

I hope this is clear. I read it and understood but then, I wrote it. If you need more information please post back.

Ok, I've searched the Help files and the forums, but I still can't get Crackmem to find the installed OS's on my PC. I have XP set up to install all programs to the D: drive, instead of C:. Is this my problem? When I start CM, it says 'no operating systems found'.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    They are as follows:

    D:\Program Files\Crackmem

    D:\Program Files\Research in Motion\Blackberry

This where they should be, based on my defaults.

    Thanks again

If they're all on your primary the os should show. I know you said you installed it, but I've got to ask. Did you run it or just download it? Does it show up in program list through control panel?

Great question BBW. I did download and run them. Checked the Add/Remove module, and they (ver. ....76, .83 and .85) are all there. In the process of updating to .85 on as we speak.

This is strange. However, loading all to my laptop and will do Crackmem from there if I can't figure this out.

According to your device profile, you have an 8100. You can't install an 83xx OS on an 8100.

I think the D: drive might break CrackMem. There was some discussion about paths, mainly relating to other language installations which don't use "Program Files". IIRC the initial part of the path was hard coded to "C:\Program Files\Common Files" and it has never been reworked to use system data.

Ok, I know you cannot do that...I think you misunderstood what I said. I have both a 8100 phone and a 8300 phone. When the CrackMem comes up under the title OS all that will load is the 8100.....how do I get the 8300 profile to come up.

I am NOT trying to load a different OS on a a different phone. Just trying to get the program to recognize the other phone. Sorry, you misunderstood!

According to your device profile, you have an 8100. You can't install an 83xx OS on an 8100.

Do you have the 83xx OS installed on your PC? Not just copied to the PC, but actually installed as an application?
