The facebook icon will always be there, service book, you can hide it. But if its installed, you can always manually uninstall it thru the BB app list. But to forever get rid of facebook.. you cant, you are fine if you dont install it,

May I ask, if I remove all these 'extras' from my Bold, does it make it faster or just gain more storage space???
    Anyone...?

Removing modules just gives you more memory.

I can't think of any reason why it would be faster. Having more free memory allows you to store and run more programs, but it won't make them run faster. I haven't done any quantitative benchmarks, but I didn't experience any speed improvement when I optimized the memory in my 8830.

    Hi,
Great site, here's my first post.

I have a Verizon 8830 WE and want to upgrade to 4.5.0.101.

I have installed Desktop Manager 4.5 and 8830uAMEA_PBr4.5.0_rel138_PL3.4.0.7_A4.5.0.101.exe
which I think (hope!) is the right 4.5.0.101 for CDMA.

I followed all o the CrackMem 3.1 steps carefully up to:
    ... [everything goes fine]
    - Click the 'Desktop Manager' button. [goes fine]
    - Installation of the Operating System should begin automatically. [not fine! ]

Nothing happens when Desktop Manager starts. A little flash of the program occurs but I think that's just it recognizing the 8830 on USB. No OS install kicks off. And there is no OS upgrade check box available when I look in Add/Remove Apps and Update Apps.

    Any ideas?

I'd really like the new 4.5 features and unlocked GPS ....

    Thanks,
    jxf11

My apologies! I found my issue ....

I have an old T-Mobile 7230 BlueBerry I keep on a USB cable in the back of my desktop so the battery doesn't die. Desktop manager kept discovering the 7230 and not the 8830.

No wonder the 4.5.0.101 wouldn't load!

I pulled the 7230 off and Desktop Manager recognized my 8830 WE and the upgrade kicked off like a charm.

    Thanks!

Happens to all of us, I guess. If you ever decide to upgrade the OS on the 7230 please let us know if CrackMem is of any use in that process. Thanks.

Just download, install and follow the instruction of CrackMan to remove the un-need files.

    One thing not clear:
I have only ONE operation in my computer: 8120-v4.5.0.81_P2.7.0.78 which is the same OS in my BB.
It seems to me CrackMem did "execute selection", did launch the "desktop manager". After desktop manager launched. I "exit" the CrackMam.
But, I do not "see" the OS install.

Is that because no newer OS to install?
What if I really want to reinstall the same OS again? Click "wipe device" instead?

    Please advice. Thank you.

Is your phone an 8120?Did you remove Venrofr.xml?
Yes, It is 8120, I bought from T-mobaile. I did manually remove Vendor.xml before using Crackmem, also check this item on CrackMem "module removal" area.
