If you are in the vicinity of either Bromley or Reading at Christmas, I'll buy you a pint. Thanks again.12-06-08 10:54 AMLike 0 - Pete6Retired ModeratorHaving combed through your post, I have extracted what I believe are the files I need to remove. Please would you check the list to make sure that I have not missed anything.

SMSWakeUp.cod12-07-08 06:22 AMLike 0 - Pete6, I used CrackMem for the first time this morning when I needed to reinstall my O.S. and I want to thank you for an excellent tool!12-08-08 05:30 AMLike 0
- Pete6Retired ModeratorI just put up CrackMem v3.1. It has a bunch of stuff for the Storm and a fix to remove the AT&T theme on the Bold.
Since I currently havean 8310 Curve, I have not been able to test the changes on actual phones. The files are moved just fine to the RemovedFiles folder so I guess that they work.
I welcome your comments and feedback as always.
12-08-08 09:51 AMLike 0 - jeffhRetired ModeratorBecause some users reported problems after removing the preloaded ringtones, the conventional wisdom is that it's best to leave them alone. You can remove them with CrackUtil if you want to experiment. They are all in one cod file, and don't take much memory. If you use CrackUtil to remove them, you can easily replace them if needed.
Much the same reasoning applies to the BBDimension themes. Many 3rd party themes build on the Dimension themes, and won't work if the Dimension themes aren't present. You can always delete the carrier themes. Just be sure not to delete the theme you are using at the time. I only use the BBDimension Zen theme, so I deleted Today and Icon without a problem.
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com12-08-08 07:18 PMLike 0 - OK so i don't know why its not working for me Pete. I followed all the instructions as you had said. Seems like an awesome little program!!! i loaded the OS on my XP, opened DM my pin showed. clicked the X to close it. then opened crackmem and selected my OS and clicked confirm. Then checked my modules, and clicked execute. The popup came up and i pressed ok. I click on Desktop manager and nothing happened at all.....(i was like WTF) lol all that suspense and it just didn't do anything. No but pete if you could please provide feedback it would be greatly appreciated. Im using DM 4.7. carrier is Verizon and i currently have .75 on there and im tyring to load bell .76.
Thank you in advance.
Obie12-09-08 01:21 PMLike 0 - Yea i dont know why i finally got it to work however, it didnt work like it was supposed to. I had to load my bb into DM and then close it. Then open CrackMEM and execute it. and open up DM again and it loaded it. Dont know why it didnt get the automation execution. Yea but great software though!12-09-08 04:41 PMLike 0

The error message about no OS means you don't have your BlackBerry OS installed as an application on your PC. Double-click the OS exe that you downloaded and it will install on your PC. Then CrackMem will be able to find it.

Still working good to this day...12-09-08 06:50 PMLike 0 - CrackMem allows you to exclude certain OS modules from being loaded, thus freeing up device memory. It automates many of the manual editing steps in Reed McLay's Memory Optimization Procedure, and makes recovery easy if you make a mistake. Look at the MOP and you will have a better understanding of what CrackMem is doing. You can find the MOP in many of our sigs, and in the How To forum.
Thanks Jeff. Pete should put this at the top of the OP.

- Pete6Retired ModeratorWith your number of posts and you current probable level of BlackBerry knowledge you should most likely not be attempting an upgrade.
However please describe just what you have installed, where you have instaled it, what you have downloaded and what you are runnig it on and we will try to get you up and runnig.
Upgrading an OS is not for beginners. It really is not. OTS carrier upgrades are fine but usng CrackMem and DM + OS is a complex but not a complcated process. Even so, many things can, and do go wrong.12-11-08 02:56 PMLike 0
