There are a couple million threads on this. If you search the forums you'll have a month's worth of reading.
If you want the best protection because you're somebody who breaks everything or if you have a job in construction, etc. then get an Otterbox Defender. It is ugly as **** but your phone will survive anything.
If you want a case that protects from everyday wear and tear and occasional drops (but not on the screen) then everybody loves Epik Resin cases.
Plenty of variations in between made from leather.
what fonage said^^^the epik resin cases are sweet though... www.Degasis.net - Authorized Dealer of Epik Case Products for Smartphones - Blackberry Iphone Etc.
I don't have your type of devixe but a 9700 and I have case-mate hybird as protective case. I love it because its not too bulky and it has soft gel skin w a hard shell case. Its only 30 bucks and worth the price.

I just got the body glove for my 9550 and I am really happy with it. I like that I can remove the clip and put it in my pocket. I also like that it provides good protection and is not too bulky. I got it on ebay for $15. Good luck.

Case Mate Signature Series, IMHO. The best! Had one on my 8900 and now on my 9700. Great protection without making the device look like it's huge and clunky.
I second OtterBox. Great case.
I would definitely go with Seidio Innocase II it's so great, I got it for my tour though but I made sure it says it will work for curve 8900. It got a great grip, you'd get a better grip to hold onto it instead of drop it often.
I've dropped it once or twice, pretty hard but never damage it.
OtterBox indeed. I've had one for all 3 of my BB's. If you are oafish like me and have a tendency to drop things, you can't go wrong with the Defender. Shop around (Amazon) for a good price.
