all of a sudden going from EDGE to edge...

Does it make sense that an application would suddenly cause connectivity issues? Not sure if this is a coincidence or related. I am also wondering if I have too many apps on my device. Could not enough memory cause connectivity issues?

go in to your manage connections and see what your mobile network options are set to.

and no an app wouldnt do that.

do a battery pull and see what happens
