Just received my 9900 upgrade from my 9700. For my work I require the camera to shoot without noise. It was possible to download an app for the 9700 which worked perfectly. Please can anyone help with my 9900? If not, it looks like it's going back!

a lot of developers have removed the feature from apps because the noise is needed for when people try and use cameras where prohibited in places like change rooms and bathrooms.

The noise is there not only for picture notification, but to keep perverts and creeps from taking pictures where not prohibited.

Seems a bit strange you can video all day without a noise yet take a photo and **BANG**!

There is an app that is close, it works like a screen capture app but it still vibrates. Seemed to work fine on my 9930, but I had no use for it so I deleted. I will post a link.

    EightyBerry

    Its somewhere in here!

Could've sworn quicklaunch had an option to silence it but I don't see it on my screen now. Maybe it didn't ported to the new version to work with 7.0?

There was a round about solution posted last year. Call your voicemail, when it connects press mute. Press volume down so Vm lady is silenced. Press the back button, it will ask "Continue call and exit to home screen" select yes. Then open your camera and take pics with barely audible shutter. This really works and isn't as complex as it sounds.

I agree with the reasoning, but I am sure a criminal find way to do their dirty job one way or another. Also, there are so many people in school who owns older versions of Blackberries and other phones which no camera sound at all. RIM is loosing the creeping customers.

Checked out the silent cam app but all the current reports indicate it doesn't work.
I see there is already a 9930 out in the US. Perhaps they have sorted out some of the issues with the 9900 on this model??? Anyone know when we can expect it to arrive in the UK?

SilentCam works fine with my Torch 9810. Here's a similar app from same developer.

SilentCam works fine and we have tested both on the 9900/9930 and Torch 9800/9810.

When you take a picture nothing will happen because the app does not notify you when the pictures are saved.

Works great on my 9930. Just a note* pics do not save to camera folder. They are saved to device memory by default.

Just an FYI, this work around doesn't work anymore. The "click" still sounds when using this method. At least on OS 7.1.
