Depending on the tax where you live, just learn how to calculate using that.
When tax was 8.25% here, I would just double that. 16.5% tip.
Tax has gone up to 9.25 so I usually practice the same method but probably deduct like a few cents to a dollar.

lol @ tip applications. are you eating out THAT much that it's a program you would use a lot?
i guess being a server i find it hilarious people use this instead of doing the basic math in their head. it is very simply people. if you want to tip 20%, just double that very first digit (ie. $30, would be 6$).. for 15% you take half of that first number, then add it to it (ie. $30, half of 3 = 1.5, so 3 + 1.5 = $4.5).
I'm hoping explaining it that way and not actually just explaining how to move the decimals around will confuse people less.

There is a free tip calculator called TIPmaster. I used it on my 8330 and it works fine on the Tour. I downloaded it ages ago though, and just transferred it through the device switcher in DM. If you can't find it I can probably supply a link later when I get home.

The program supports both 240x260 and 320240 screen resolutions. However for each screen resolution the is a separate installation archive. If you have a landscape 320240 BlackBerry then download the TIP_Master_1.0.1_320240.zip file. For the square-screen 240x260 BlackBerries download the TIP_Master_1.0.1_240x260.zip archive.

Simmer down people, simmer down. Maybe YOU don't eat out a lot in groups, but maybe the OP DOES. Maybe you can calculate a 15% tip split 7 ways easily in your head, or using the calculator, but there are others who can't.
If there's an app available, why not use it. Who cares if you don't want to use it?
I have Freetips on my Pearl. works nicely. Whenever I want to use it.
All this talk about how much the bill is yadda yadda... why not tip on the service you received instead of how much the bill was?
I can rack up a $100+ bill at a restaurant, if the service was bad, you get tipped like your service was bad. If your service was good, you get tipped like your service was good. Excellent, tipped like it.
Who cares how much the bill was, tips are for service, not the bill amount.
