Terra Mobility is pleased to announce the release of BuddyGuard Beta 2.

BuddyGuard is an application that allows you to protect your privacy and personal information in the event of the loss or theft of your BlackBerry. With BuddyGuard, you can remotely access and control your BlackBerry using commands send via SMS or email messages.

    New Features in Beta 2:
    • Locate: Lost your BlackBerry? Sends the Locate command (bg-locate) and BuddyGuard will reply with a link to the mapped location of your BlackBerry. Note: This features requires that the device supports GPS, and can take 1-2 minutes to determine the location.
    • Send Commands By Email: Now send BuddyGuard commands using any email account you receive on your BlackBerry. Include the command and your password in the email body, using the same format as with SMS message. BuddyGuard will detect the email, process the command and delete the email to ensure that no one can use it to discover your password.

    Fixed issues:
    • In some cases the SMS command responses on CDMA device were failing to be sent. All SMS responses are now sent as expected.
    • The command and password parsing is now tolerant of extra spaces within and appended to the command. Text appended after the password will also be ignored.
    • Changes in the Help text wording to clarify the command format.
    • Allow notification email addresses of the form first.lastname@company.com.
    • The Alert volume is now louder and the sound more noticeable.

    Existing Features:
    • Wipe: Remotely wipes personal data from your BlackBerry. Removes contacts, email and phone log data to prevent unauthorized persons from accessing it.
    • Alert: Assists in finding a misplaced phone by playing a tone, even if the phone is in silent or vibrate-only mode.
    • Lock: Instructs your BlackBerry to lock itself to prevent unauthorized access. Protects your data without deleting it.
    • List: Emails a full listing of the data that would be removed by the Wipe command. Allows you to test and verify what a Wipe will do without actually deleting your data.
    • Help: Remotely receive a listing of the available commands. Useful when you've forgotten the set of supported commands.

Supported devices include all trackball, trackpad and touch screen BlackBerrys.

To try out the free Beta, you can find it in the CrackBerry App Store or download it OTA by accessing http://m.terramobility.com/bg from your BlackBerry browser.

    Beta 3 is awesome.
Built-in BG lock feature even if you don't have Password Enabled in your Options.
So just text yourself bg-lock my_password and your phone is locked with password.

    perfect thanks
