- Hey all - so I successfully downloaded blackberry protect but have been unable to perform an initial backup. Each time I get to 98% and then the error message "Nullpointerexception: java.lang.nullpointerexception".
The bar always reads "text messages" and "98%". I have done several battery pulls since first installing it. No dice!

You have a rogue text message causing this. Best bet is to just erase the entire folder and start new(h*ll of a lot easier then trying to find what txt msg that's causing it)04-10-11 05:13 PMLike 0 - ^^ hmm that's probably it. I unchecked text messages and the rest backed up fine. So I'll just go without text backup for now. Reallllly don't want to erase all the msgs...
Thanks!
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com04-10-11 06:04 PMLike 0 - Good thinking. I was getting the same error message and then 17 messages from Protect because it keeps trying to complete the scheduled backup but fails.
I went through and deleted some texts that looked like they might cause the failure, and a lot of the old ones -- still didn't work. Deselecting text messages from the backup worked. Too bad it won't backup the texts, but at least everything else is working.
If anyone finds a better solution for this, please post.

A bit of a pain, but you'll find that most of the time you don't need those old texts sitting on your device, as much as you need the newer stuff, so it can be worth it for some.04-23-11 01:59 AMLike 0
