    Hi,
I had the same update required but for BBID took less a minute and the time for reboot of my BB was good around a minute and a half.
App World closes if you select "No" because the v4 need BBID to be upgraded.

    Hi all,
I still am not able to run the new appworld. I downloaded it from rroyy as well as from blackberry.com/appworld/download (ota), but the only thing I get is this error message which comes twice: "uncaught exception: no application instance". I tried to remove the older version first followed by reboots, tried to directly download and replace the older version but no luck. The event log does not help since there is not a single entry regarding appworld to be found. I even tried to allow all for the appworld when downloading, but the only effect was that those two messages popped up directly after the download and prior to "Successfully installed"

Reverting to the older version 3.x via Desktop Manager works, but 4.0.0.55 refuses to run.
I'm at the end of my wits
    Edit: Bold 9900, OS 7.1.0.714

Same issue with my 9810. Now can not access internet, twitter, facebook and there is nothing in appworld.

I meant to quote blade 27 in post 25.

Ok, after 3 reboots and one battery pull, it seems to now be working.

But... No idea of what went wrong for quite some BB users?
I dont know what could be wrong when I just say "update" when appworld itself offers to update appworld

In a german forum, some BES-connected users also complain about problems with the new appworld.
Some setting in an IT-policy seems to be the reason.
Still searching for that particular setting.
    Will keep you updated.

I think I found the issue with my device. I too was getting the "uncaught exception: no application instance", after upgrading App World. After downgrading my OS (other problems with 7.1.649, still wasn't working. Seekerberry, gave me an idea about policy, and I realized prior to upgrading I had created a new policy for enabling Balance and had it applied to my device for testing. Once I moved myself back to our default IT policy, App World now is available and I no longer get the error or missing icon. Strange, but I only have three policies relating to Balance:

Disable Forwarding of Work Content Using Personal Channels = Yes
Work Domains = my Company's Domains (this is my guess because my BB ID is using my person Gmail address, maybe)
Enable Separation of Work Content = Yes

Curious, but my guess the Work Domains might be the one, though it's interesting that it wasn't an issue with the previous version of App World. My 2 cents.

I lost my BBAW icon too. (Bold 9650 running old 6.0.0.431 on VZW)

But the version on rroy's site claims to be newer than the one that was just released? 4.0.0.63 vs 4.0.0.55???

EDIT: I see rroy's archived version is 4.0.0.55. Is that the one I should try re-installing?

EDIT2: I see the version I had just installed was 4.0.0.63. So I re-installed .55, got the icon back. Now the question is, should I try installing .63 again? From AppWorld? From rroy?

It didn't solve the problem of it jumping back up to the top of a list whenever it loads up the next 25 apps in a category. Oh well...

Its working great for me. Followed the upgrade prompts through App World. It also upgraded BB ID. Only thing negative is the new upgrade deleted itself from my BBM profile and I can't find anyway for it to connect to BBM again.
