I Haven't found any major battery drain with Beejive so far. Trying out the trial and have been using it for about 2 weeks now. Its definitely better than using 2 or 3 different IM clients at the same time. I used to run windows live messenger and Nimbuzz at the same time some times so this is much better than that.
Oh, well when I use AIM and stay signed in and leave my beejive there it is obvious that my battery is going down at a faster rate

I own it, like using it, but I have seen a battery drain when using it and leaving it active (up) all day. But I keep a spare battery and sometimes have my BB plugged in to my laptop during the day, so its not to awful.
Yeah but that's really inconvinient because when you switch batteries and stuff you get signed on and stuff and I'm in school and out all day. I do not carry a laptop on me. I wish beejive wasn't so battery consuming other wise it would be great

If you utilize Beejive's idle mode it will save you a lot of battery life. I don't know if it is on by default but it is in the options.
Really? Where is it in the options? I never seen it

In preferences look at "Enable Push Email Alerts When Idle" and also modify your idle settings.
I believe with this the client actually disconnects from the beejive server but the server keeps you logged in. Then when you get a msg the client wakes up and notifies you.
It should cut down on battery usage.
Alright I enabled that function. Will it email me and stuff when I get IMs now? Because I don't want any emails sent to my phone. Only IMs to beejive

Dont get ya hopes up man. Beejive messed up with their current version & have yet to release an update with the fixes (namely "push notification"). I have mine set to idle after 1 min & has yet to work correctly & notify me via the email address I have input to forward the IM's to when idle. They are fully aware of the issue (& others) & their forums on their site is full of complaints. Their just more focused on keeping the iPhone's version up2date so their forgetting about the Blackberry users who've paid DOUBLE the price & most of us paid triple the price of the iPhone version. We've been awaiting an update fix for months...SMH
So when will we be seeing this upgrade?

New update was released today, v2.0.3. Go get it
I don't see any differences in the update. (I got it already)
Any changes made to the application? Feels and looks the same to me

Thanks for the info. I'll check it out & hopefully they resolved the "push alerts when idle" feature.
thanx for the help
There update just released tonight uninstall the old reboot and install the new, better connection so the send to email when idle should work. Version 1.1.1 saves your battery I kept the prefs so I guess it has bin crossed over onto the new version but all in all when I test battery life after a new OS update beejive always runs and I get days of battery life. I don't think beejive is ur problem.

I don't understand what email they'll send. If your idle and someone IMs you they send it to your email? I don't want that -_-

I do. Reason is when its idle its SUPPOSED to kill the connection to Beejive. The min you receive an IM, Beejive servers SHOULD email you the contents of the IM. You would then reopen the Beejive app & respond re-establishing your permenant connection. That feature REALLY saves on your battery.
If u don't want that then get version 1.1.1 for the idle option with no emailing that emailing use to work but same problem on the latest version.
