FIRSTLY, LET ME SAY THAT I ONLY INTEND TO USE THIS 8100 PEARL AS AN INPUT DEVICE TO MY PC.
A. BB Pearl WILL transfer pictures to the Desktop Mgr (4.2).. but not notepad entries.
B. Synchronize button in Desktop mgr. greyed out.
C. Screen will show BB is charging, but I get the msg: "USB charging current is not sufficient. Verify that your handheld is connected to a powered USB charging source and that the proper BB driver is installed." I don't know if this is related to my inability to access Notepad entries.
Update desktop manager to 6.x, then restart the computer. Also, check the 81xx section for an OS update and be sure to update it's OS via apploader. You'll then have a smoother experience.

A connection of BB to PC is shown in the lower right hand corner of PC.
It will readily transfer pictures (or did).
The device appears in My Computer.
However, the Desktop Mgr. interface says, "Disabled", or maybe, "disconnected".
