I am having a problem installing bb maps. I have tried to install it through the bb website as well as through app loader. It says that it loads fine, but i am unable to find it on my phone.

I am running bbs06 theme and lyd. hydbrid S2+9530-705Hybridv2.

    Any thoughts?

i am having the same issue. im running .419 (no hybrid), i download both OTA and through the laptop, it installs to either the core apps or add on apps, but i dont get an icon and cant get the app to run...i asked a similar question a week or so ago and was told you have to install a fresh OS with BB maps, cant add it on later...which makes no sense as its available thru the BB site on its own...

I'm pretty sure it is forcibly hidden by the carrier.

My Storm shows it, and it works, but that wasn't always the case. I'm not sure if unlocking the phone made it usable, but I prefer Google Maps.

The version of BBMaps that's available on the RIM website is for obsolete OS versions only. All current OS versions include BBMaps. It's not available as a stand-alone install. AT&T blocks it on their devices because they prefer you to use their subscription-based service. Verizon does not block it. I don't know any reason why you would be having a problem installing it from the OS on your Storm, unless you are trying to install the obsolete version from RIM's website.
