- Barcode Scanner apps have been out for a minute. I never had the need for one, but it seems that many sites are starting to implement them into their website. They can even be seen in the Crackberry app store.
There are quite a few out there, but some of them have very poor reviews. For instance I looked up ScanLife in BlackBerry App World. It had only 1.5 stars out of 5 based on 440 reviews. That's not good.
I came across a few that I found. Do you all recommend any of these, or are there others out there that are better?

Well my search didn't show the threads that you just mentioned. I came across 3. One was posted recently in the Storm forum, and no one has responded to it. I decided to post mine in the 3rd party forum, because I am looking for a 3rd party app. The other 2 were over a year ago. I'm sure by now there are better apps out.

I'm hoping someone could actually give me some feed back as to what they use or think is best. I'm sure there are more threads in this forum that have no merit what so ever, in comparison to the one I've just posted.07-23-10 12:21 PMLike 0 - I used Beetag yesterday to play with the new codes - I'd like to compare it with something else also.07-23-10 01:23 PMLike 0
- All the 3rd party QR code apps I tried were kinda slow or they take a high res pic, then save it (which is kinda wasteful if you have your camera set to an insane resolution for a QR code...).
Taking a 2000xSomething pic for a qr code is kinda insane.
That's why the BBM option is much better imo...07-23-10 01:52 PMLike 0 - All the 3rd party QR code apps I tried were kinda slow or they take a high res pic, then save it (which is kinda wasteful if you have your camera set to an insane resolution for a QR code...).

I tried it. It works most of the time. It takes a while sometimes. It continues to focus in and out. Sometimes it does it quickly, sometimes not so much. There were even times where it couldn't recognize it, then I would try again and it would work.07-23-10 02:19 PMLike 0 -
So far using papped suggestion of BBM seems to be the best method so far.07-23-10 02:45 PMLike 0 - Do you use the "Scan a Group Barcode" to can in BBM?

i.e. if you display the image on a black background with no border, the scan will fail 100% of the time. The border around the image has to be a color like white, otherwise it can't tell where the edges of the QR code stop (which is why at the bottom of my site you see that i had to add a white border to all the QR codes...)07-23-10 03:10 PMLike 0 -
- So far ScanLife seems to be the best overall. I was able to scan some books I had at home. It directed me to their website where it provided links to Amazon, eBay, etc that had the item for sale New and Used. If I scanned an item it couldn't find, it provided a link to Google to see if Google would yield better results. I even scanned some lotion I purchased at Wal-Mart. It took me directly to the Wal-Mart site where the product was for sale.
It had no problems scanning the barcodes.
I tried BeeTagg and Microsoft Tag. I deleted both. They never could process the barcodes. Kept saying I had to retake the picture.
