All apps use battery power. To avoid using apps defeats part of the purpose fun of having a smartphone.

The trick is finding apps that are efficient and use the least amount of your battery power. Also, you need to exercise good management of your apps -- being careful to close them when finished with them.

If you see an app you think you like, run a search on CB forums and reviews. You'll find a lot of feedback to help you decide.

    Could well be.

I remove all weather apps (use a online page now).
    Removed battery monitoring apps
    Removed network usage apps
Removed screen lock / app lock apps
Removed home screen information apps (like also weather pushed to the homescreen).

I check in the options/phone/apps which apps are using more CPU usage then necessary. Remove those.

Even some theme using CPU more than needed/wanted.

Make sure you are in a BIS environment. If this service is out of order, the phone is eating battery.

At first i used 1 day of battery. Needed to charge every night.
I doubled this only need to charge once every 2-3 days.

These 2 points are right on. This is how you keep your device tuned.

Through it all though, I stay with my weather app because I use it often.

Have you tried the m.accuweather.com site. It's brilliant for mobile viewing.
I also get an email with the weather each early morning.

So no need for a weather app.

Myself kept a AppLock app from the beginning. I needed this to secure my specific app. But afterwards, this was just the cause of a big major battery usage and cpu usage.
After 6 month i found this, and the phone was faster and smoother right away.
Some apps are just made wrongly.

So what apps would fall under the Network Usage category? Like Facebook, Twitter, etc?

No I haven't tried m.accuweather.com yet, I'll look into it. I've heard about it before.

You have to find a service for that. I live in the Netherlands. So found a dutch website I could sign up for email for my local weather.
I get the email every day at 7:30 local time.
