I had met a person weeks back who had an application that spoke the callers name to them when it hit voicemail, such as:

Hi John, Derek is not available please leave a message.

I see that Youmail may do this, however I cannot test it as it says it is not supported on my device.

If anyone knows of an app like this, please let me know.

I have a Blackberry 8530 on US Cellular

yup. freaked some of my friends out. actually it greets them by the name they signed under their contract. but you can also record specific greeting for each number...its free and they have a app too. check it out

The actual youmail visual voicemail app may not be supported by your device but you can still use the youmail voicemail service. Set it up on your pc. Go to Visual Voicemail For Your Phone | YouMail they instruct you how to forward your calls through their server. Its a neat service and much better IMO than your standard carrier voicemail.
