jcqns, you're working the homescreen on this? If so I'll leave the homescreen to you, and work on other things like making the icon customizable, a banner indicator, and burning-fireplace charging screen if I can manage that without it pulling 100 Watts.

Oh I haven't thought of changing the background etc. But I have the banner indicator down, snowflakes falling where you can pick the volume of flakes falling with countdown as you open app and counter on the homescreen icon.

That's where I am at the moment.

How do you tell if an image is public domain?
I googled Christmas gif -copyright, here's some that came up... wish I knew a way to truly tell if something was public domain or not. Stupid internet

Label changes to "Merry Christmas!", and then something will have to happen with the icon. I'm still in favor of it cracking open to reveal a nice lump of coal for all the people who don't have at least 3 of my paid apps installed. Probably will be best to let you all set what it changes into, then at midnight you can say "hey watch what my phone does for Xmas..."

(or, more likely, "Shoot! I forgot to watch the icon change!")
