A hard reset would be removing your battery to reboot. A soft reset would be using a program or pressing alt, right shift, del to do the same thing.
QuickLaunch has a device reboot feature. I just use the button combo though.

I've heard the two are the same...
There's quicklaunch, deReset, quickpull, softreset...
deReset - The Effective Device Reset App - Utilities BlackBerry Apps - Crackberry BlackBerry Apps Store
QuickLaunch - The Swiss Army Knife of Blackberry Apps! - @ VOTED BEST PRODUCTIVITY APP OF 2009! @ - Utilities BlackBerry Apps - Crackberry BlackBerry Apps Store
Steelthorn Software
Quick Restart - Utilities BlackBerry Apps - Crackberry BlackBerry Apps Store
RestartMe - Utilities BlackBerry Apps - Crackberry BlackBerry Apps Store
MeterBerry - The Ultimate System Management Utility - Utilities BlackBerry Apps - Crackberry BlackBerry Apps Store
These are just some of them. I personally recommend quicklaunch, it dos a lot more than just resets.

Quickpull is the one I use. Or pull the battery. Quickpull has a scheduler though that makes it easy to set it and forget it.

+1 for Quicklaunch. It has a scheduler for rebooting in addition to so much more. A fantastic app.

deRest seems to be the best right now. QP second.
Soft reset = alt + rt shft + del
Hard reset = alt + rt shft + del a second time
Reset App = almost battery pull similar to the OS asking you to reset now or later.
Battery Pull = all power removed from your BB. Everything dead.
