*Better* is relative in this case because while the Google Maps has a better interface, Amaze has turn by turn navigation and Google Maps does not. Just check them out and decide for yourself, both are free.
I didn't know amAze had turn by turn navigation... I'm going to have to check it out... Thanks

Not a problem. Have Fun!
I've tried it. Google maps is good, but it doesn't have voice turn-by-turn. But it does have a map with a bubble showing where you are.
amaze gps takes too much bandwidth and my 8900 on t-mobile can't handle.
i just tried amaze and it's pretty good. one thing i really like is that the backlight stays on while you're using so you don't have to use another 3rd party app to do that, unlike google maps where you need an extra app to keep the backlight on, all you have to do with amaze is take off your unlock password.
I really love Google map. Because it does have a map with a bubble showing where you are and go (drive/or walk) like "turn-by-turn" . it called little GPS..
IMO you need both. I use Google Maps more than AmaZe on a regular basis.
Sometimes you don't need the power of a turn-by-turn GPS. But it comes in handy!
4.6.1.250 w/ 5.0BBM on tmobile - works GOOD for me....
amaze works fine for me on tmobile, def try it out
What the heck are you talking about? Amaze runs just fine on the EDGE network.
This is a good point. I also have both on my device and I also use Google Maps for everyday stuff.
Amaze is very good voice turn by turn free app with live traffic up date and road closure. My only problem is that when your inputting an address its a pain and sometimes it doesn't have it.
GOKIVO destroys Amaze in every way, as far as free turn by turn apps go. Find Gokivo at the App World.
I'm sure it does but it also costs money for the app. Amaze is free.
Really? I have Gokivo on my phone now and it was free.
Its MUCH better than amAze.
Ah kewl, it is still free! Their website said it would cost after May 31st but I guess that didn't happen. I'm DLing it from the App Store now.
I live in nyc and the gmaps is way better than amaze for me because I use public transportation and the subway stops are shown on the map! I also use lattitude to track down my close friends and to let them see I'm not where I shouldn't be. I also use it to get different routes to places I normally wouldn't know about with times of when busses are to arrive and trains to depart. Its a defanite must have if you're in nyc and use mta! Amaze is for when I'm in the mountians and riding to locations I've never been before. I've tried it on my 8350i but not on my 8900 yet, but nextel is half the speed if not identical to the edge network.

So I checked out Gokivo, its not too bad overall. I like the interface better than Amaze but I didn't like how each time your view changes - regardless if this were trying to see a direction off from the screen or zooming - there is a delay for the software to request more map data. I thought that part was clunky. I may use use this more than Amaze for the GUI and searching but, to me, Google Maps is still the best option. Even without turn-by-turn.
I tried GOKIVO and found it less than free for me. Living in Australia is not a good option for it either.
I just realised that I have Amaze v4.5 installed on my 8110 (which has Vodafone Compass as OEM) and was wondering how or if I can install it (v4.5 free) back onto my 8120?? any suggestions or anyone who has it backed up and could send it to me please?
many thanks,
Steve.
If I'm not mistaken, amaze is no longer a free service as the system prompts you to upgrade to version 5.0 on 1/1/2010.
Gokivo and AmAze aren't free anymore. You get a trial, and that's it.
Life in Pocket has pretty good interface, turn-by-turn and it is free.
yeah, i saw something that amaze was no longer free the last time i used it.... or would be pay shortly....... bummer. not something i use too much, but still handy. i will have to try life in pocket....
Thanks for clearing that up about Amaze. I'm fiddling with NavFun Pro right now. I like the fact that you can use it offline with media card storage options and you can make your own mapping areas with various degrees of detail/load speed.
