i recently got my Tour and was wondering if AIM and MSN use the BBerry data plan or txt?

I'm wondering the same thing. I just got my Tour today and it came preloaded with AIM and other IM clients. I read somewhere on other thread here (don't remember exactly where), that if the AIM client is downloaded from RIM, then it works with your data plan. If you download it from AOL, then it will charge you with texts.

I'm not sure if this is true, can anyone confirm?

I mean, you could always start using the AIM client and see if you are using up your texts. I'm going to log into my Verizon account and see.

if it was txt id have over 10000 a month, and i only run about 3k txts per month. The BB AIM app and all BB messenger apps are data.

but yes the AIM provided on the tour uses data. its the mobile IM on the "dumbphones" that use your texts

Does using the aim app use minutes like on a 'dumbphone' or since it uses data is it unlimited and doesn't waste minutes?

Runs off data... Wont see anything on your text messages... I use mine all the time.. AIM, and MSN. Your good to go
