Has anyone had any success with AIM? Currently I do not have the data plan but have 1500 text msgs which cost me $15. I am looking for a more (if possible) cost effective way to get text mesages. I stumbled across an article stating you can use AIM to send and receive text messages. Is this true? Does the receiver need a data plan? I would like to have the data plan but doing so would run $45 (text and data) a month. Yes I know a blackberry without a data plan is like a car without wheels but i initially got it as a all in one device (media player and phone). Please dont flame me if i overlooked my answer. I checked...honestly I did.

You can send texts from aim by typing +1-areacode-number in to send to box, but it will come up as being sent from your sn and not your number. It is also pretty slow and inefficient.
