Is there any apps out there that could turn off the accelerometer? It would be really nice when Im trying to text in class the keyboard keeps switching between landscape and portrait mode because i moved it 5 deg.

Or is this even possible to make?

Simple Reason: Rim wont allow it

Complex Reason: Rim doesn't allow 3rd party apps to control the screen orientation when you're in another app. However you can lock the screen orientation in your own application. RIM does this for a reason. You may think it sucks, but it's actually a good thing. What if my app locked your phone upside down. Then everything you did on your phone would be upside down.

Well that doesn't make sense. There are apps that allow you to lock your phone. So what if I locked your phone?

All the apps that lock your phone have a way to exit the app just for that reason. Holding down the menu key for 3 seconds will take you to the app launcher screen where you can exit the app and return to the home screen.

Everything RIM does they do it for a reason. It may suck, but they are there for your protection.
