This phone won't sell. It might have done in 2015. But no now.

Considering they only sold 400K KeyOnes worldwide. I doubt this phone will crack 100K.

I'm not disputing your figures for the KeyOne, but where did you get 400,000?

Numbers for K1 were never released so where he's getting his info is beyond me.

Generally speaking, I'm a KB loyalist and don't really want an all touch (never have) but even I LOVE the Motion and am considering it.

The number of units sold is not that relevant if TCL can sell enough to realize a profit and justify the investment.

TCL has not released sales of KEYᵒⁿᵉ. All we know is that they are happy with the release, and had underestimated the demand.

Your speculation on the Motion is fairy dust.

The only issue with the Motion is potentially the price and availability but other than that it competes toe to toe with many popular devices that have launched in 2017.

They will always compete with popular devices, cause popular devices are launched every year.

I think the biggest issue though is that nothing is really standing out about this device... nothing compelling (maybe battery life).

They could had went full screen with a rubber back... or curved edges like the Priv. Dual camera or some kind of camera technology that can set them apart.

Limited launch doesn’t show too much confidence... basically they are testing the market

Even if they sold 5k units, the money they make from the other stuff TCL sells in china alone is more than enough to make up for the losses.

There are many, many better Android devices available in the market now, at much better prices.

The OnePlus 5 is an excellent device with great reviews and fantastic specs at a lower price.

I have been a loyal BlackBerry fan. I have had the Torch2 9810, Z30, Passport SE, PRIV, and now the DTEK60.

Battery problems with the DTEK60 and poor BlackBerry support has made me rethink my loyalty.

"Better" is a subjective thing. There's no shame in stating that BlackBerry Mobile doesn't offer a compelling package for you at the moment.

Better? here is data... Google's Pixel 2 XL priced higher than Apple's iPhone 8 Plus but is half as fast, lacks many key features
see the poor memory utilization with all those 6Gb... no wonder want more... (eat the spec reader's heart out... I am bit sorry for them... got tricked by the number (xGb) game... perception brain game successfully played in the other side of the globe well).

No comparison with Nokia. They released phones with Snapdragon 835 (Nokia 8), Snapdragon 660 (Nokia 7) while Blackberry released phones that is one generation behind (Motion Snapdragon 625).

You won't find such topics in a Nokia forum but only in a Blackberry forum.

"You won't find such topics in a Nokia forum but only in a Blackberry forum." hmm,I guess CB should thanks for your special attention. Can I ask why? try to practice your sales figure prediction? stock option? just courious. (knowning TCL not release the figure, you have no data to back up - not even geolocation data you observed, are you pull a rabbit out of your hat for the figure? snap a finger? or you living next to TCL and counting their truck for shipping?).

I don't think it works that way. They didn't aquire the rights to sell BlackBerry branded phones to keep the name alive. If it doesn't make money, it'll ultimately go away. Hopefully they will make money and we can continue to have these conversations.

TCL Communication's business was way down and in the "red zone"... they are counting on Western Markets and higher margins to "save them".

Motion..... BlackBerry Mobile knows it's not a device to compete in the consumer midgrade smartphone market. It's made for a niche, Enterprise and that is really it's only shot. Either Enterprise comes around and shows interest in what BlackBerry is offering.... or TCL moves on and BlackBerry Mobile is DOA.
