It's time for a Krypton announcement!
Not sure my PRIV can hang on for much longer. It gets hotter and hotter. The battery life gets shorter and shorter.

It'll be interesting to see. My guess is that it's just the guys of the idol 5 that the just released put into the body of something BlackBerry helped design.
I hope not. I hope it's distinctly BlackBerry. Otherwise, what is the advantage for TCL? If they want to release the same device under a different name, I'm not sure that will work for people long term.
Full disclosure, I'd still buy it lol.
What I meant to say was the insides will be the same as the Idol 5, but the outside will look different and be blackberry branded. Not just a rebeand of the idol, but a whole new design with the same specs.
ahhhhhhhh I gotcha.
No. It's a TCL design. Internals are similar to the KEYᵒⁿᵉ.
All touch
Snapdragon 625 processor
Full HD 1920X1080 display
4GB of RAM
4000mAh Battery
Home button with built-in fingerprint scanner

So it'll be out dated by the time customers actually get it.
No chance they'll upgrade the specs? Do we know for sure that it'll be what's listed above?
90% sure.
It's meant to be a solid industrial-design, long lasting, secure enterprise workhorse and a complement to the KEYᵒⁿᵉ.
If you're looking for an ordinary high-spec consumer slab, there are many other choices. BlackBerry Mobile is not catering to that over-saturated market.
As long as the screen doesn't fall out, I'm sure it'll be totally solid.
Initial blunder aside, the KEYᵒⁿᵉ is an absolute tank of a phone.
I see your point. I guess my real concern was that the Krypton continues with the "workhorse" mentality. I don't need a higher end phone with cutting edge specs. I've lived BBRY for years. Just happy to hear it'll still do what I need.
That's what I want. A non-PKB tank of a phone. Well said.
1) The name is recognizable by some... so has a better chance than using TCL or Alcatel brands in western markets.
2) Margins are higher, they can actually make some money... if they sell enough units.
3) Enterprise is more likely to buy, based on the BlackBerry name. And generally they'll pay more too.
Any idea when? Currently using a Samsung Galaxy S7 and miss keyboard and so many other things about BB. Looked at KeyOne but thought I might wait until the Krypton comes out.
I just heard it'll be announced this month. That's not to say it'll be available. Either way I think it's a positive if they can announce this month and have production ready for the holidays.
I don't understand why this device would take a couple of months after announced to be released. It's a simple slab with no new or unique specs that would make production difficult. The KEYone was different with the uncommon PKB. I was expecting it to be available this month. With all the dying DTEK's they should hurry.
I have no idea what their manufacturing capabilities are at the moment. I want the darn thing yesterday. But I'm willing to wait so they get it right.
They were supposed to release three phones this year. Maybe after the KeyOne issues, they decided to focus more on quality.
Either way, I hope they get this right. I'm excited for it and hope it's the phone I've been waiting for.
Krypton is an all touch device.... not much difference between buying it and downloading the HUB+ Suite for your S7. Cobalt has the BlackBerry Virtual Keyboard that can be installed too.
I think that I need directions on how to work Cobalt. Would love to do that if possible. Thank You! Battery life would be a plus on BB. I use my phone all day long and by the end of the day it is dead.
Search Google for "cobalt blackberry manager".....
Thanks so much! Is this a side load app? Or can I do that through my phone?
It's an APK... direct download and run via your phone.
Any thoughts? When I downloaded the keyboard which I love, the blackberry launcher doesn't seem to be giving me notofications?
