I've searched the forums, but couldn't come up with a definitive answer.

I have a BlackBerry Motion BBD100-1 with Android 8.1 Oreo ABE104 (July update) and I can't find Google Lens anywhere, neither in the camera app nor in the assistant. If I open up the app's page on Google Play it reports my device is not supported. I don't think this is a country restriction (Italy) because other friends have it from stock.

    What's your experience?

Referred to the Motion in particular or any BlackBerry device?

I believe google lens is not available for the Motion because the camera on our device doesn't meet the specs of the app. I remember reading about it in the past.

Anyone have any idea why the service would be restricted to only certain devices or camera "lens"? Although perhaps now highly integrated with camera and other photo apps, it's really an analysis service is it not? I can understand if a certain quality photo or camera was required or as long as the camera had the ability to focus accurately onto different parts of the shot, but much else doesn't make sense to me. I guess I don't know enough about Google Lens.

I don't want the app, I was just adding more info on the issue.

I know, just saying you can double-check opening that link on the Play Store. A message will appear and tell you that your device isn't compatible (rather than not being available in your country).

I had the same issue with the app on my K2 and Motion, getting a message that it wasn’t currently available. As to it not being available because of some lacking in the camera specs, it works just fine on any photo in your google photos app, so I can’t see the camera being a problem. Not sure what advantage using the app would give.

On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Photos app Photos.
    Select a photo.
    Tap Google Lens Google Lens.
Depending on your photo, check the details, take an action, or find similar products.
