I connected my BlackBerry Motion to my laptop using the USB cable that came with it. The phone shows up in the Windows 10 file manager but none of the 'drives' appear, not even the SD card. Is there a Windows driver I need to install?

Thanks for the link. Downloaded the drivers and installed but still no storage drives show up. PC file manager says BlackBerry BBD100-2 is empty.

Hope you are clicking on Charge and Data/ or Transfer Files option after connecting the device to the PC.

Also helps if you stick it into a usb 2.0 port. I've had trouble recognizing it in a 3.0

I missed selecting "charge and data / file transfer" as my phone screen was always black when I connected my phone to my PC. And I admit I didn't understand what that prompt meant when plugging the phone in to charge. I see the phone drives now.

I have followed the above steps but still cannot see the BBD100-1 drives on my Surface laptop. I would welcome suggestions / further trouble shooting steps. I also attempted to transfer files using the File Commander app PC file transfer feature but this also failed.
