It appears that the BlackBerry Motion will be available in the UK from November for £399.

Pre-Order is supposed to start today at Carphone.

Good sign is that apparently most of the major UK stores will be selling it.

Great news for UK customers . I have booked my device in Dubai recently. The pricing and device specs are very good.

I agree that a fraction cheaper would have been nice, but am encouraged by them managing to keep it under £400.

This is all good news. I'd like to see a little more direct success with carriers this time around, though. Vodafone picked up the KeyOne fairly early last time, but were on their own. EE would be a big win with their high street presence and large business arm.

Yes indeed, I'd get a discount via my employer if it was on EE.

KEYᵒⁿᵉ was £499 on preorder. And it was $549 USD, $729 CDN.

Using the same math on £399 hopefully we can expect $449 USD and $579 CDN for the Motion.

    Yep.... that should hold up.

Basically a $100 premium for the keyboard, but you lose water resistance in the trade. I'd pay the premium for the PKB (especially now as there's a 1 day sale that's $50 off on the KeyOne) IF the KeyONE was water resistant.

But it's not, and that's more valuable to me given my lifestyle than the keyboard is.

    Your maths is wrong.

    Going by UK prices:

    399/499=0.7995992

    $549 x 0.7995992 = $439
    $729 x 0.7995992 = $583

No kidding Descartes. But when was the last time you saw something being sold for $583?

Does anyone know if the UK motion will be dual SIM? This info appears missing from any listing I have been able to see!

See this thread on the variants of the Motion. The UK is getting the single SIM BBD100-1, which is confirmed in a photo from a TCL executive. It's possible you could import the dual SIM variant, but bar occasional unlocked devices, these models just don't see the light of day in Europe.

Many thanks for confirming what I had expected. While I would only use the "second" SIM when travelling, it would be a nice to have particularly for extended or repeated travel.

Presumably TCL has done market research.

Looks like it. That's why they're not coming to Spain.

The BlackBerry Mobile EU store might be a lifeline. If they can manage to update the website, that is...

The UK is a far more straightforward market than most, even within the EU itself. If the European Commission's heavy regulation of carriers wasn't enough, just having Carphone Warehouse sell the phone gives ubiquitous high street access to it on almost any network (every phone they sell is unlocked). It's not a climate that Verizon-style characteristics could possibly survive in.

Spain is an outlier with the KeyOne for reasons I don't fully understand. TCL have had a lot of success in bringing it to market across the continent otherwise.

I'm just glad that the delivery date is known so soon after launch. I'd rather have it that way region by region or country to country vs. global announcement and then you sit and wait for a date that might move.

Those are good numbers! I'm thinking It'll be closer to $500 USD, but will get it anyway.

I have just had a look at the Motion in Selfridges (oxford street). It is very nice, light with a good screen.

Screen is 7mm wider than the Keyone - and fairly easy to type on

... tempted, but still hoping for a large Keytwo
