I was using it as were some of my friends at my recommendation & they really like it. It's the best messenger with the best messaging features. This is just as bad as BB10 dying.

I'm so sad my family uses BBM to chat around between us and as a group, most of them are in IPhone and me and my parents are on BlackBerry Android. We love what was made of it during latest years. My kids have it on their tablets and use it to communicate with my family. I just wish BBMme goes free because all of them want to continue using BBM. What's App is not a choice for my kids due to no phone number on their tablets and I don't like how easy is for a strange person to be in contact with them. BlackBerry needs to come to the rescue.

I've come across some good things about Wire. Has anyone here been using Wire? How does it compare to the feature set that BBM offers? I don't care much about having Channels.

I think the place to start... isn't what app you want to use, but what app is everyone you communicate with already using. That will vary by market.

For me... it's standard SMS/MMS for most. Slack for work. And Messenger for a few out of country contacts.

While I"d like to think I could make a choice and bend everyone to my will... not sure it would work.

I've been thinking about this issue, and comparing your response (which I see a lot) with my experience, which is that no one I've asked has ever refused to download or use the messaging apps I've suggested, whether that's BBM, Slack, Hangouts Chat (the G Suite version of Hangouts), or Microsoft Teams.

What I've realized is that 1) my circle of friends and colleagues is adventurous by nature and wiling to try new things, so long as a clear explanation is given. 2) I don't want or need to connect to casual acquaintances on any messaging app, and 3) I have zero FOMO about the platforms I'm not on. If I'm missing great conversations in WhatsApp or FB Messenger, I couldn't care less!
