I'm w/TELUS (Canada/Motion variant BBD100-2) and nothing here... After seeing the updates slipping further and further behind, along with reading news of fake updates being issued by "some" manufactures, wasn't surprised it missed the boat this time. Knew it was just a matter of time.

The update was released by BBMobile weeks ago. Delay appears to be cell providers as it's up to them to push. barring unlocked devices.

you can do it manually by dowloading from link in a separate thread here if you look.

You can blame your carrier.. Rogers Bell and telus will tell you "they need two test it" first before release. Yet it is suppose two be there to stop bad things front happening.. Like a hole in security.. In anyway. And BlackBerry being all about this... blame your carrier.

I'd like to think that is the case but after hearing "Some Android phone makers are reportedly lying about the security updates on their smartphones" w/TCL supposedly being one of the worst offenders, you got to wonder. Coincidence?

    You're misunderstanding the patch issue.

For instance, the KEYᵒⁿᵉ is supposedly "missing" 1 of 117 individual, specific patched items over the course of the last year.

But who knows if that's even true, whether BlackBerry Android was even vulnerable, whether they were subsequently patched, etc.

Oh I understand but it becomes disconcerting (as a consumer) hearing such news - yeah I know, the over exuberant media looking for a story or, them blowing things out of proportion to a degree to make it read/news worthy. Either way, got to be some truth to it otherwise it would have been labelled “fake news” by now so the question begs "to what degree are some of us affected?".

I am probably not good at hints, a search for 'download April security patch BlackBerry Motion' revealed nothing...

I'm not good with hints either (lol) but thought it might help steer you in the right direction. I have no plans to force the update myself so we will just sit back and wait, we'll either get it or we won't... Using one of my other phones as our daily driver at the moment with the Motion sitting dormant, no reason other than a change of scenery.

I really hope TCL and / or Blackberry do not fail on timely security updates, I don't care if they are behind on Android level updates like Oreo, but the selling point of this phone was security, here we sit on February security patch in May, while even the Essential Phone PH-1 just received the May Security update.

There is a lack of transparency with TCL on this which leads to negative speculation. If the manufacture refuses to comment what else are we supposed to believe?

Either way I wouldn't be remotely concerned. As I wrote, only 1 of the 117 patches are even in question.
