Is there a way to speed up wifi transfer speeds? I currently get ~1MB/s in one house and ~300KB/s in a different house. I have wireless-n routers in both houses so I don't know why the transfer speeds are so slow.

Is there a way to speed this up?

Get better signal strength. Find out your signal levels.

the speed really depends on the ISP and how each household receives the data stream. For example, your ISP may be using a dedicated cable line to channel your data while the other house's ISP may be splitting the cable line with both the TV and Internet connections. Also really depends on the population density in the neighborhood bc AFAIK, some ISPs like Rogers split the connection. So during peak hours like in the afternoon or during the evening, you may experience slower speeds bc there are more ppl splitting the connection

Isp speed shouldn't matter since I'm transferring on the same Wifi connection. Either way I get 60/20 from my Isp. I purchased a new wireless n ap to replace my old wireless g router.

    I'll test it out soon.

So I tried it out with the new access point, I'm getting between 1.5-2mb/s trying to transfer a movie file, too slow to be useful for me.
