Some of you had some really good remarks.
The Leap has been out there for a bit.
Who has one to share their story?
I've been using one for 2 days now, screen is bright and vibrant. Very clear in sunshine.

Battery life so far is decent, better than my Q5.
The speaker IMO is far batter than what some people say. I would say my its about a 6-7 out of 10
it's quite loud but obviously lacking bass (as most devices do)

    Passport 8 / 10 (for comparison)
    Z30 around a 8 as well.

The volume rockers are a little more "mooshy" compared to the Q5s but they still click.

For the moment, I don't have anything to complain about. But as time goes by I'm sure there will be a couple gremlins that creep in.

Oh wait one complaint, the power on/off button. It's impossible to reach when typing. Would have preferred it to be on the same side as the volume rockers.

By the way, works well for calls? Clear?
    Who's your carrier?
Is it an unlocked model? Or tied to a carrier?

    Anyone else?

I have both and you can't go wrong with either one. They're both great devices.

If you use NFC, you'll want to get a Z30. Leap has no NFC.

I had both. The Leap is overpriced for what it does have. A big battery and an LCD screen. That's about the only good things about a Leap. Other than those two things, it's about $200.00 too much.

    I now enjoy a Z10 again.

How can you say that? It only sells for $275. So you're saying the phone is only worth $75?
I agree it is over priced. Maybe it should be around $150-$175.

I think you should see the price in Canada when you buy it outright. It nearly cost $400.00 when I bought one from Bell, so yeah...for what you get, save the $200.00 cash and buy a Z30.

This is my first day with the white leap and I must say it doesn't feel nothing like the white z30 I had a couple of months ago. I couldn't get used to the z30 for 2months I had it I kept going back to my q10 but today I put my passport away and I have been rocking this white leap and I must say I am enjoying the ride to the slider phone. Although nothing can top my passport

Leap: bright screen, great battery life
Z30: better speakers, easier to hold, slightly faster, hdmi, and nfc ( I have never used those features)

Both are great, cant go wrong with either.

At this point in time this argument is pointless. Both good phones each with its pluses and minuses. I've had the Leap for one year now and it's served me well.

The problem is with neither of these two devices. The problem is that it's looking more and more as if BlackBerry 10 and it's accompanying devices, Z30 and Leap included, have no future left...

The Z30 was built as a Flagship phone for its time, the Leap as a low cost device for companies to buy in bulk to equip a large number of people, it is a solid phone; however, the Z30 is far superior build quality and design. IMHO the Z30 was the best phone at its release, too bad nobody bought it.

Leap has one other advantage that no one is mentioning: LTE on ATT.

I just replaced my Z10 with a Leap, it's a nice looking device, but the GPS, screen and loudspeaker are not as good and I'm assuming are better on the Z30.

PS: it seems to delay in switching cellular frequency by losing the signal for a few seconds and then reconnecting to a new frequency.

I've been looking to get an affordable BB10 slab device for a little while now and kept going back and forth between the Z30 and the Leap. I also looked at the Z10 briefly but never seriously considered it due to its small battery.

I ended up getting the Leap and here's why (no in order of importance):

    1. The Leap is newer. This means it comes better configured out of the box with the latest OS. Even used (like the one I got) examples are often far newer than used Z30's. Which means they come with some limited warranty left on the clock...whereas most Z30's on the used market are past the warranty coverage. The one I got is just a few months old.

    2. The Leap is cheaper. The one I got only set me back $150 Canadian. Finding an as nice and as new Z30 for the same price proved pretty much impossible. If you can look past some of commonly mentioned shortcomings (NFC, magnet sensor, etc), the Leap is a steal.

    3. The Leap has more expandable storage space capacity than the Z30 (128gb vs 64gb). To me that was very important because having a ton of consumable media with me at all times without having to connect to data is very important to me. This was probably the deciding factor for me.

    4. The Leap has a brighter screen which is important for outdoors...I kept reading about people not being able to see the Z30 screen in bright sunshine. That was also an important deciding factor. I already have bad enough vision, I didn't need to struggle to see the Z30 screen when it's bright outside.

The Z30 is a great phone too of course but for my needs, the Leap just fit me better.

True. For clarification Z30 does support LTE but not a wide a range as the LEAP

Once the OS is upgraded the Z30 supports 128BG and I believe it has better WiFi capabilities.
The Leap is also missing HDMI. That said the LEAP is the newer phone (March 2015 vs October 2013)
