Z30 better specs, better materials, better design for relatively same price.

Makes no sense to me when they didn't just slash Z30 price by half and make that entry phone. What a waste of inventory.

Because the Z30 is out of production? They are most likely going to have a discount for the Z30 right before the Leap is released. Sellout the devices they have and Leap will take the place of the Z10 and Z30. But it is not meant for either user. It targets enterprise segment that wanted a cheaper alternative. ( Z30 base price was not 275.)

Well for one I believe the Leap has LCD, instead of OLED like the Z30. For me this is a big advantage. I pretty much refuse to get OLED devices since I had a really bad experience with burn-in in the past.

As a privat consumer: The Design. I like it much more than the Z30s Design. Thats the only reason I could imagine. For Hardware Specs definitly the Z30!

As a company: Z30 is EoL -> better support for Z3

This was my first thought too. I used to like AMOLED screens, however they simply are pretty prone to burn-in effects, it's just a fault of the OLED technology. So now I try to avoid them if possible, I am also glad that BlackBerry decided to go with LCD screens on Classic and Passport.
It is not only the burn-in, but the LCD screens are usually much brighter too.

Besides that, as already stated the Z30 is most likely out of production and needs a replacement. Of course the Leap is not really an initial replacement, since the Z30 was designed as a flagship phone, while the Leap is rather more targeted for users with a ttighter budget.

How do you know it is out of production?
Might have to get myself another for black, I don't see the leap in the same quality. What advantage or disadvantage is there between the two products........?

The only potential disadvantages the Z30 has over the Leap are that it is a tiny bit heavier and some people prefer LCD to AMOLED.

Otherwise, the Z30 has a better processor, Paratek antenna, BlackBerry NaturalSound stereo speakers, and micro-HDMI out. So you'll get better performance, better reception, better sound, and a cheaper cable to buy to connect to a big screen if needed.

I dusted my Z30 off and have been using it with the new update.

It's a really nice phone still, and I don't have a bunch of Android apps or anything on it, so it's still fast. The battery life is now like my Passport's and it's a lot of fun to use BlackBerry10 on a big touch screen.

I like the Leap, but it seems like a downgrade compared to the Z30 I already have.

I would buy the Leap over the Z30 because BlackBerry is going to stop producing the Z30 sooner than later and they will stop giving support to the Z30. Also I like more the design of the Leap, it's more basic and I like simple things because the little things are things that matter.

Screen brightness. Z30 is one of the best phones out there and completely fully loaded but the screen dimness makes a deal breaker to me.

Is the size of the Leap closer to the size of the Z30 or Z10? I am looking for a smaller all touch Blackberry

As a first, the Leap's LCD is so much better than the OLED display used on the Z30. Second, aesthetically speaking, the design of the Leap is much cleaner and simpler. Those are my two major reasons to getting the phone. Keep in mind that the Leap also supports more North American bands than the Z30. Yes, the Leap doesn't have a better GPU, better speakers or all the sensors, but I can live without all that. This phone will serve me well as an unlocked travel phone. Maybe as a daily driver as well; we'll see!

Screen. Design. And the major reason is because 10.3.1 is going to come preloaded on the BlackBerry Leap!

No more updating the Z30 to 10.3.1 fresh install using sic wipe+autoloader and still have almost half of the phone storage filled. That's without counting the apps you need to reinstall which will fill the phone storage even more, thus making the phone laggy/ier.

With 10.3.1 preloaded, the Leap could even operate better than the Z30 with its 'specs' on 10.3.1....

Outside of enterprise ? There is no reason other than "because it looks better. " I run my Z30 with a dark theme and minimal brightness and have no complaints. If you really like LCD that much, then sure. It's clear that BlackBerry is going the oled=premium, lcd=budget route so if that's a deciding factor, you'll also be deciding if you want flagship specs or not. I got the Z30 on a great deal a year ago. Today ? The Z30 still but neither for full price for 3 generation old CPUs sold for 100-200 more than a moto g, depending on your market, I want latest generation tech, not necessarily top end but newest type screens, better camera modules, latest Gen cpu.

I think that is not right. Passport is high end and has LCD, right? Latest OLED phone is Z30.

yes sir the PP is a premium business phone. wish i had one :-P but i haven't even upgraded to the Z30 yet. Can't believe the screen is so dim it's unusable... but to each his own right?

as for the OP's question, i want a phone that not only i can use but can also perform- a multitasker. Z30 sounds like just that so Z30 wins. Leap is for enterprise, even for smaller business units with bigger priority on security/messaging rather than apps/playtime.

Granted if you handed me a Leap right now I'd rock that mofo because I'm dying for a bigger screen. Landscape screen.
